February 24 Saturday Seminar

Where is it – Crystal Oaks Clubhouse, 4958 W Crystal Oaks Dr., Lecanto 34460. Actually it is on Kristen Loop. Crystal Oaks is off Highway 44 west of the intersection of 44 and 589. 

Who is speaking - Sydney Cruice, is a professional genealogist, writer and national lecturer. She holds an MBA from Drexel University and a BA from Penn State University. She is the current President of the Association of Professional Genealogists for the Greater Philadelphia Area Chapter. She will be speaking with her two topics using Zoom.

Derek Vorobok He has a Master’s Degree in American Military History.  Derek taught various subjects, among them U.S. history, for five years - three years of middle and high school and two years of adult education.  Derek has held a passionate interest in the American Civil War for many years. He is now a reference Librarian at the Homosassa Library. He will be speaking live. 

What are they talking aboutSydney Cruice - “Just Google it! Using Google to Discover your Roots” Learn all the different ways Google can be used to help you with your genealogy research. From finding elusive books and records to finding your family’s homestead. 

Finding Your Way Through Immigration and Naturalization Records.” It is necessary to understand the immigration and naturalization laws and processes so that you are better able to find your family in the records. We will discuss passenger lists and how they changed over the years. 

Derek Vorobok – “The Importance of Military History for the Genealogist with Ancestors in Past Wars.” This presentation will apply Derek Vorobok’s education as an MA in American History and his personal passion with the Civil War to researching military records. Using the Civil War as example, he will describe where to find records pertaining to the American Civil War.  

Time – 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 

LunchBring your own Brown Bag Lunch. We will allow 30 minutes for lunch.
