The Florida Genealogical Society (Tampa), the oldest genealogical society in Florida, hosts an Annual Seminar every fall. This year's guest speaker is the Chief Genealogical Officer for Family Search, David Rencher. He will be presenting four sessions. You do not have to be a member of their society to attend (cost is $45, or $50 if you register after 23 Sept). Visit their site for program and registration details.

Over 426,000 genealogist world-wide are using DNA and traditional genealogical sources to create an accurate single family tree. You can use WikiTree as a primary online family tree or simply as another tool to help further your own family history research.

Annual Central Florida Family History Conference  (Special Event)

Mark your calendars! 
The 21st Annual Central Florida Family History Conference will be the first Saturday in November. This event features a full day of one-hour seminars given by genealogy experts from across the United States. Choose from over 50 presentations covering a wide range of genealogy and family history topics. 
 
Registration is $35 and includes a conference notebook with all handouts. Students 18 and under are free!  Panera catered lunches can be ordered for $10 when registering. If you don't want to drive, bus transportation will be available from Leesburg and The Villages (additional fee). As soon as registration is open, we'll send out a blast to all members and announce it here.
 
Reminder: KINSEEKERS will not be meeting in November due to space being unavailable in the library. We enthusiastically recommend attending the Annual Central Florida Family History Conference instead.

The Digital Public Library of America: A Great Resource for Genealogy Research
DPLA is a free national digital library that provides access to millions of materials from libraries, archives, and museums across the United States. Their website provides a convenient single access point to thousands of digitized images relevant to family history research. A key benefit to genealogists is how DPLA consolidates, curates, and categorizes items. Come learn what DPLA has to offer.

We're bringing back Genetic Genealogy expert and nationally acclaimed speaker, Drew Smith, to talk about Autosomal DNA. Autosomal DNA test results contain information that can be used to identify relatives. Learn to interpret the results and then make successful contact with matches. If you have tested with AncestryDNA or one of the other testing companies, are thinking about it, or simply want to understand why so many genealogists are excited about DNA testing, don't miss this program.
