FOUR PRESENTATIONS! (Designed to benefit all skill levels)
Problems & Pitfalls of Reasonably Shallow Research
This class highlights examples of how conducting a shallow search can result in significant errors. Assumptions, misinterpretations, and not digging deep enough into original records can mislead us, sometimes for years.
Thinking Outside the Index: Advanced Search Techniques
This class examines why some records cannot be found using present indexes and gives alternative methods for searches and alternative search engines. Finding these hidden treasures often helps us knock down brick walls.
Baker’s Dozen Steps to Writing as You Go
This class encourages you to begin the writing process before ever looking at a research record. Focus is on learning how to be an efficient researcher by using the writing process as a vehicle to drive research and not as a separate activity.
Creating Your Personal Genealogy Education Plan
This class discusses all avenues of genealogy education, to include self-study, online courses, and genealogical institutes. It focuses on how to design a genealogy education plan that’s unique to each individual, taking into consideration experience levels, time and financial resources, and personal/professional goals.
